Lego Color sorting game

The Tulips today’s activity was Montessori math with lego color sorting game. We basically used two papers of two different colors (blue and brown) and five lego duplos in each color that matching the papers. The teacher started by placing the papers on a carpet and showed to children how to play the game. Later on, children were asked to match the blue lego duplos to the blue paper and the brown lego duplos to the brown paper. Furthermore, they also counted at the same time how many lego duplos they placed on the blue and brown papers.

Purpose:

* Identifying and differentiating colors (blue vs. brown).
*Allow children to use their senses.
*Teach children to sort and organize colors into groups.
*Teach children to count from 1 to 5 in English and Swedish.

Lpfö: Develop children’s mathematical skills by lifting up and following reasoning.
